Ring Slings

A ring sling is a length of cloth with two sling rings fixed into one end that the other end threads through to provide an adjustable pocket for the baby.

Ring slings are generally used to carry a baby on the front or hip, although experienced babywearers may use one on the back too. They can be used for any age of child, from newborn to pre-schooler, and are very useful for quick carries.

See this useful document on The Babywearer website about how to get your ringsling or pouch comfortable.

Many ring slings are made by woven wrap manufacturers, such as Didymos, Girasol, Natibaby, Storchenwiege and more (see our page on woven wraps for a longer list of manufacturers), and many babywearers like to convert woven wraps into ring slings. Other companies that make ring slings include Maya, Rockin' Baby, Sakura Bloom and Pouchlings.

Pouches

A pouch is a non-adjustable carrier, with a pocket of fabric that the baby sits in. Pouches are very useful for quick carries, but can be uncomfortable if they don't fit well.

Popular brands of pouch are Hotslings, Coorie and Lifft, among others.
