Sling meets and other events |
If you'd like to know more about babywearing, or already carry your baby and want to meet other babywearers, please come to one of our Sheffield sling meets. We're very friendly and there is usually cake!
We keep an eye out for new people but please do introduce yourself and ask for any help you need, or just sit and chat. We get together as much for the pleasure of being around our friends and fellow babywearers as to help each other out. Although we are mostly mums, everyone is welcome - dads and grandparents, people without children who just want to find out more, and general hangers-on! There are usually plenty of toddlers and pre-schoolers running around so do feel free to bring the family. |
So whatever you need - if you want to get started wearing your newborn, need to move on from your stretchy and aren't sure what to get, want help back-carrying your toddler, want to know more about babywearing, or just fancy a cuppa in a child-friendly environment - join us!
Please join our mailing list to be informed of future events, and subscribe to our blog to find out what we've been up to. Past events are listed here.

Regular sling meets
Our regular sling meets have an emphasis on babywearing help, with demos, tutorials, and lots of slings to try out, and plenty of time left over to just sit and chat. If you're new to babywearing or have never been to a sling meet, this is the best type of event to attend. Look out for anyone wearing a name label or looking official, and they will be glad to help you out.
The meets are drop-in, so just come along any time, but check the listing for the times of demos and tutorials so you don't miss them. For help getting to our locations, see our directions page.
Some of our regular meets - usually one a month - are attended by Sheffield Sling Library, so if you want to borrow or return a sling without making a separate trip to the library, check the listings. Only pre-requested items can be borrowed, so get in touch with the library in advance.
If you have any specific requirements or want to try out a particular sling, it's a good idea to join our Facebook group and post a question, or if you're feeling a little shy just email us. Hopefully somebody who's coming will be able to bring along just what you need.

Other events and informal sling meets
We also have various other events going on, such as outdoor meets, walks, charity fundraisers and so on. Check the events page to see what we're up to. These events are more social in nature and a full range of slings may not be available, but there will usually be someone who can help out with a specific babywearing question. Events are open to all members, new and old, unless it is stated otherwise.
For anything outdoors, such as park meets and walks, it's best to contact us first to make sure that it is going ahead as planned (as always in this country, outdoor events are weather-dependent!) and to check if it will be suitable for the age of your children. Although we keep this website fully updated, we tend to organise events via our Facebook group, so to find out about things as soon as they happen, please join us.
